Rock legends to reunite in 2025: ‘We’re now eager to make a noise’

Two rock legends are planning to reunite in 2025 and make some noise.
The Who co-founder, guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend tells The Standard in a new interview that he recently met with singer Roger Daltrey to discuss plans for a reunion tour for next year.
“We’re in good form. We love each other. We’re both getting a bit creaky, but we will definitely do something next year,” Townshend told the publication.
Townshend and Daltrey last toured together as The Who with an orchestra in 2022, but Ultimate Classic Rock reports fans can expect upcoming shows to sound more like Daltrey’s stripped-down 2024 tour.
“The last big tours that we’ve done have been with a full orchestra, which was glorious, but we’re now eager to make a noise and make a mess and make mistakes,” Townshend told The Standard.
Daltrey, 80, and Townshend, 79, are co-founding members of The Who, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group behind hits like “My Generation,” “Baba O’Riley,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Who Are You?” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” The band performed at the original Woodstock festival in 1969, so the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a frequent stop when they play U.S. tours.
It’s unclear if The Who would be doing a “farewell tour,” but Townshend said earlier this year that he’d like to do a proper goodbye to fans.
“It feels to me like there’s one thing The Who can do,” Townshend told The New York Times in March. “And that’s a final tour where we play every territory in the world and then crawl off to die.”
2025 tour dates and other details have not been announced yet, but stay tuned.
