Description
Space flown embroidered “Soyuz MS-10”crew patch
travelled on board 2 different space vehicles.
First,
the embroidered crew patch was aboard the “Soyuz MS-10” spacecraft during
failed launch
. On October 11, 2018, the “Soyuz MS-10” spaceflight aborted shortly after launch due to a failure of the “Soyuz-FG” launch vehicle boosters. During the accident and the working of the launch escape system, the Orbital module was parted from the landing capsule. So, the orbital module fell to the Earth from a height of 50 kilometers!!! The very much deformed and oblate orbital module was found by the special rescue team in the steppes of Kazakhstan. Later on, the crew patch was put out from the deformed Orbital module and was given to cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin, commander of the "Soyuz MS-10" spacecraft. The patch was autographed by
the “Soyuz MS-10”
crew - Russian cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin and American astronaut Tyler «Nick» Hague.
Russian cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin took this crew patch with him on the next space flight by the “Soyuz MS-12” spacecraft and delivered the patch to the International Space Station. On board the Space Station, the patch was marked with the “
ISS
” octagonal board seal and the “
Russian Segment of International Space Station
” board souvenir seal.
